After F. W. Boreham's first pastorate in Mosgiel New Zealand, he received a call to the pastorate of Hobart Baptist Tabernacle. He arrived in June 1906 and served there for 10 years. During that time he double the congregation, planted another church, wrote several books, became the President of the Hobart Cricket Club, a weekly contributing editorial columnist for the Hobart Mercury (which lasted 46 years), and President of the Tasmanian Council of Churches (while he was the Tasmanian Baptist Union Superintendent). Despite all the responsibilities and challenges his international reputation as a writer and preacher grew dramatically. But it was the rigours of World War 1 took a heavy toll on FWB.
